On 28 April 2018, the Canadian Baptist Historical Society held its annual meeting at McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, Ontario.
Paul Wilson, President of the CBHS, opened our session with words of welcome.
Paul Wilson gave the President’s Report, wherein he mentioned that this past year has been an encouraging one for the CBHS. Over the last twelve months the CBHS has launched a new website and has continued to pursue its publication interests with the CBHS book series (which presently has four volumes in various stages of development).
Doug Adams gave the Treasurer’s Report, which you may find here.
Gord Heath gave the Membership Report.
Mark Steinacher led the election of the Executive Members. (For up-to-date information on the CBHS’s Executive, see our “About” page on this website.)
Paul Wilson invited our first presenter of the day, Mark Steinacher.
Mark Steinacher presented his paper, “E.J. Stobo, Jr.: Quiet Fundamentalist.”
Taylor Murray presented his paper, “‘Come out from among them and be separate’: The Rise and Fall of John James Sidey’s Independent Baptists, 1934-1939.”
Adam Rudy presented his paper, “‘The Ecumenical Movement, is it of God?’: Central Canadian Baptist Identity and Ecumenism in the 1960s.”
After the meeting several of the attendees went out to lunch at a local restaurant:
