On 13 April 2019, the Canadian Baptist Historical Society held its annual meeting at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto, Ontario.
Paul Wilson, President of the CBHS, opened our session with words of welcome.
Doug Adams (left) gave the treasurer’s report and Gord Heath (right) gave the membership report.
Sharon Bowler and Paul Wilson gave an update on forthcoming books in the CBHS series. Sharon outlined her proposed monograph, John Gilmour: A Study of Conscience toward Truth and Reconciliation; and Paul outlined his (with Taylor Murray) proposed edited collection, Canadian Baptist Fundamentalism, 1890–1970.
Baiyu Andrew Song presented the first paper, “Joseph Kinghorn’s (1766–1832) Educational Vision and its Canadian Connection.”
Jerry Thomas presented the second paper, “Growth through Church Planting: French Fellowship Baptists in Quebec, 1944–1963.”
Jeff Straub presented the third paper, “T. T. Shields: The Canadian Spurgeon? A Fitting Comparison?”
After the meeting several of the attendees went out to lunch at a local restaurant:
