Canadian Baptist Symposium 2025, Part Two: A View From Nova Scotia

As noted in part one of this post, on 26 April 2025, Acadia Divinity College (ADC) and McMaster Divinity College (MDC) hosted the Canadian Baptist Symposium.

This one-day conference featured a total of 18 paper presentations (two plenary addresses and 16 papers in parallel sessions). Thanks to the wonder of technology, we were able to host this conference at two locations in real-time, with papers presented at one location streamed to the other.

The following images provide a glimpse into the day for those who attended the symposium at ADC.

The conference opened with brief remarks from Melody Maxwell and Carol Anne Janzen, followed immediately by the first plenary session, given by David Bebbington.

Following a brief break, ADC moved into its first parallel session, which featured Keith Grant, Melody Maxwell and Hannah Roberts, and Pat Townsend.

The second parallel session included papers by Scott Kindred-Barnes, Spencer Boersma, and Jon Dixon and Dan Pyke.

Finally, the third parallel session included papers from Joel Murphy and Jodi Porter.

It was an enriching day filled with many interesting papers. If you are interested in seeing this event from an Ontario perspective, click here. And, if you were unable to join us, the Canadian Baptist Historical Society has plans to publish a collection of papers from the day.
