Earlier this year, the Canadian Baptist Historical Society announced an intiative to raise money in order to erect a monument for Washington Christian (pastor of the First Coloured Calvinistic Baptist Church of Toronto, 1834), on the site of his grave at the Necropolis Cemetary in Toronto.

We are pleased to announce that the necessary funds have been raised, and we have scheduled a dedication ceremony for the monument on 4 July 2026. This date is, fittingly, the day after the 176th anniversary of his passing.

The ceremony will be held at the Necropolis Cemetery (Q.15.s) at 11:00 am (light lunch to follow).
